Religion as a firmware update, distinctive feature of the human species and natural selection parameter. Three types of religions.

A small number of very important definitions:

Religion is a set of beliefs, rules and rituals, created to counter balance the human animalistic instincts (passions). Its purpose is to adapt the human behavior and character for the biologically unnatural structure of a large commune, high level of safety and satiety. A religion uses god, or gods as a super dominant to affect human motivation via the hierarchical instinct. One of the main religion’s functions (the most greatest function, in fact) is impeding the excessive domination of women in the unnatural conditions a society lives in. A cultural tradition is closely tied to religion. Cultural tradition is reinforced and doubled by a set of laws. Usually, law and tradition take the legislative and executive functions, while religion works on an individual level on a daily basis.

Religion gives people a set of rules and behavioral algorithms, which are necessary to function effectively on a societal and individual levels.

In Homo Sapiens, since the appearance of material culture and medium-sized tribes, the natural selection uses a different set of fitness criteria. A separate fitness parameter is the ability to compensate for the harmful (in the new environment) instincts of the pack level, with religion and cultural tradition being the main compensation mechanisms.

Without religion that neutralizes the stone age animalistic instincts of an individual, a society can not form. Having lost religion, a society degrades and breaks down into primitive pyramidal hierarchies. Any society that seeks to survive carefully keeps its religion and tradition intact, for the two have proven their effectiveness and is a guarantee of being viable.

A society’s progress manifests itself in the growth of the size of the pyramid, or the transformation of the pyramid into a mushroom-like structure. In both cases, the average instinct drive is lowered. Regress is increase in instinct drive level, adaptation of a pyramidal societal form and breakdown of large structures into smaller ones.

A society with high average instinct drive has a pyramid structure and a religion with powerful intimidation system. The one with low instinct drive have a non-pyramidal structure and a complicated legal system. Societies with different instinct drive compositions do not mix, and can only assimilate one another through a long course of generational change, or through genocide. Sometimes, they exist as foreign pockets (diaspora, gang, mafia clan, etc). This is called cultural incompatability.

The lower the instinct drive, the higher the organizational structure and more advanced the material culture. The process of decreasing the instinct drive and creating the compensation mechanisms is civilization building, a society with low average instinct drive and neutralized animalistic instincts is civilized.

To make the picture more vivid, using technology terms, a human is a bio-robot that happened to be put in conditions drastically different from the ones the robot was designed for. The firmware in the robot’s BIOS does not correspond to the new conditions, and the robot’s behavior is not adequate. To restore the bio-robot’s functionality the robot needs to be reprogrammed. The robots are so advanced they created a system to reflash their BIOS. Religion is that reflashing system, the one adapts the bio-robots for the new conditions.

The bio-robots, the humans, can be divided in three categories:

The reprogrammed category. These are the people that have adapted their instinctive programs to specific life conditions and technologies. The harmful elements of the programs are turned off or suppressed, the useful elements are initiated and developed. Furthermore, there is another set of active, working programs, the set which was acquired through upbringing and education. The behavior of these reprogrammed people is adequate for the new conditions of existence and manufacturing technologies. A society that is composed of such people is effective, it develops and successfully competes with other societies.

The non-reprogrammed category. These are the people who do not have adequate programs for the conditions they live in. Such people, living in a civilized society, act as if they live in a primitive pack. They live according to their stone age firmware. Here are the examples of harmful parts of the programs that control their behavior: uncontrolled aggression, “steal” instinct, free sexual marketplace. The more such people in a society, the less the effectiveness. The development is slower, the society is less stable and loses to its competitors. Any balanced society has to get rid of the non-reprogrammed people by whatever means available — if reprogramming failed, society resorts to banishment, isolation and destruction.

Differently reprogrammed. The so called gentiles. They are reprogrammed for a society of different type. Their behavior is only partially adequate, and they seek to build their own society, a diaspora, within the one they live in. These foreign deposits weaken a society, and balanced society treats this category as the non-reprogrammed category — re-reprograms or gets rid of them.

This is why in most balanced societies there is a single mandatory reprogramming system — state religion. The members of other religions, as well as non-believers are systematically oppressed. Belief in a balanced society is a criteria to measure the adequacy of behavior, an identifier “us vs them”, and a mean to improve communications between the individuals, first and foremost — in the process of reproduction. The programs of gender relationship are adjusted with extra care and attention. An unbalanced society promotes tolerance, and the moment the amount of gentiles reaches a certain threshold, they destroy the aboriginal population and take over the territory. Two very recent examples are Kosovo and Chechnya. Biorobots of different genders with incompatible, conflicting working programs can’t form a stable pair, for this reason in an unbalanced society the inner pair structure breaks down.

A modern human is different from his stone age ancestor in two ways. First, this is the level of safety and satiety he lives in. Second, the instinct drive level. This way, the reprogramming system is designed taking the two parameters into account. Every time either of the two parameters change, they reprogramming system breaks down. This is the reason behind development, as well as degradation, of various societies, and periodic creation of new religions associated with it. The entire logic of human history is in this not so complicated process.

The harmful instinctive programs can be neutralized in three ways:

Adaptation. This is the way of Hinduism and Buddhism. Through various “spiritual practices” a man “finds himself”, studies the emotional states his instincts put him in. Then, he learns to ignore the emotional discomfort from the conflicts between the instinctive programs, rational motivation and daily reality. Nirvana has a high price — lower motivation toward any activity, and low society’s effectiveness. A Buddhist society is balanced, but stagnate.

A harsh system of bans and regulations, reinforced with god’s authority and fear of punishment, both before and after death. This is implemented in Islamic countries. It works, but the average instinct drive level remains high, and the society in ineffective. As the result — poverty (unless oil has been discovered). Furthermore, the creativity is stifled, because it is incompatible with heavily regulated way of thinking. Regulated thinking makes good soldiers — they are easy to manipulate emotionally, to make into fanatics. Islam is often the religion of militarized societies.

Pit the instincts against one another. This is implemented in Christianity — alongside the other two methods. Christianity adopted everything it could from other religions.

In theory, there is a fourth way — to arm the man’s mind with the full knowledge of his instincts, thus enabling him to control them. This is not implemented anywhere due to lack of such knowledge. This book is the first step in the process.

Usually, a religion is doubled by law. The law creates a direct thread, affecting the self preservation instinct. The religion creates additional psychological barriers, affecting all the instincts available.
